  •

Using Podcasts in the Pharmaceutical Marketing Industry

Podcasts offer a more engaging way to share information with relevant stakeholders in the pharmaceutical marketing industry:

  • Building brand awareness: Podcasts could be used to tell the company’s history, goals and values to further connect with audiences. They could also be used to provide information about a specific product in a more digestible format.
  • HCP training (CPD): Podcasts can be created on specific learning topics which could be included as part of HCP eLearning. This could be done by sharing information about advancements and research in the medical field, present information from Key opinion leaders and case studies.
  • Engaging patients and advocacy groups: Podcasts can be used to share patient stories and their journey with your products, or to provide support information that could be useful to patients.
  • Internal communication and training: Podcasts could offer an engaging way for you to provide information to your internal teams and help upskill them in new areas.

Google's NotebookLM: Transforming Podcast Creation

Google’s NotebookLM (Language Model) offers an exciting new way to generate podcasts. This tool allows users to upload resources, such as articles, reports, or entire websites, and then leverages AI to craft cohesive and informative audio content. By analysing large amounts of information, NotebookLM creates engaging narratives tailored to the desired topic or audience with 2 impressively real podcast hosts that naturally talk through the topics together.

How We Used NotebookLM to Create a Podcast on Noxivision

To showcase the power of NotebookLM, we decided to create a podcast to summarise the work we have done on Noxivision, our fictional pharmaceutical product we developed at Iguazu for AI research. Here’s how we did it:

1. Uploading Resources: We gathered all our Noxivision-related content, including articles, product descriptions, and the product website that we created as part of our research. This comprehensive dataset was uploaded to NotebookLM, so that the tool would have as much information as possible about our product.

Here are a list of the resources uploaded to generate our summary podcast:

2. Customise the requirements: On the NotebookLM tool there is an option to customise what you would like the podcast to focus on. This is useful if you are uploading lots of resources that mention multiple topics but you are only interested in a single topic, then this will allow you to ensure the podcast only focuses on what you need.

3. Generating the podcast: Creating the podcast is then just as simple as clicking the ‘Generate’ button. After a few minutes your podcast will then be ready to listen to.

4. Amending the podcast: It is not possible to make specific amends to the podcast but you are able to change the details in ‘Customise’ and regenerate the podcast if the hosts are not focusing enough on what you wanted.

By using NotebookLM, you can create an engaging podcast tailored to the exact information that you want it to focus on with minimal input and effort.

Get involved for the ultimate engagement

NotebookLM has recently introduced a new feature called ‘Interactive mode’. This new feature provides the ultimate immersion with the podcast by allowing you to participate in the podcast conversation in real time. As the hosts discuss your chosen topic you can jump in to ask them specific questions which they will answer, as they continue to the podcast.
